Description The VELAQUA is used in water for amusement, recreation or physical re-education and is modelled on the configuration of a bicycle. As its centre of gravity is below sea level, it is technically impossible to capsize the machine, even in difficult sea conditions.It consists of a U shaped frame with identical floats fixed symmetrically to the front and rear. It floats naturally with a load of more than 120 kgs. The floats give excellent stability in response to the movements of the user who is sits astride the bottom of the frame. The floats cannot be punctured and each weighs 3.5kg. The width is 105cm. The frame weighs 5kg, height 0.75m, length 1.2m.
Use The user can change his position from just sitting or for more fun to all the positions the body allows. Propulsion is a choice between pedalling (Fun Pro), using the flippers (Fun Pro GT) or using electric motors (Fun Pro GTE). Its light weight (12kg) allows for easy transportation in three pieces. Dismantling or assembly by push fit is done in a few seconds. A characteristic of the Vélaqua is that it is identical front and rear.
Construction The Velaqua is stabilised by allowing water to enter the purpose made orifices in the frame. The floats have ergonomically designed handles that are easily gripped to transmit the effort the user applies to move the whole machine. A supplementary propulsion mechanism of two flippers moving alternately is worked by handles each side of the user. The rounded shapes of the parts reduce the danger of shocks and bruises in case of collisions. The design allows it to be used safely and to stand up to hard use by persons weighing up to 120Kg.
Transport and preparation for use Simple but efficient lockable fixings (which can’t come undone in the water) mean that the three main components of the machine can be easily dismantled and stored. Of exceptional comfort, the removable seat has a thick layer of closed cell foam rubber as used in competition motor bike saddles. It can be replaced in a few seconds by a seat.
Maintenance The parts are of plastic conforming to swimming pool accessory and seagoing equipment specifications. The surface treatment is hydrophobic and does not cause any deterioration of the aquatic environment. The parts are resistant to salts and chlorides and are fully recyclable. Treated with UV protection, the Vélaqua resists the effects of the pool or sea side sun for a long time. No specific maintenance is to be expected except for machines used in the sea, which will need a wash down in clean water. The material is High Density Polyethylene of density 0.95 and includes approved additives for UV resistance and various aquatic use requirements, particularly for pool use.
